Refrigerated Van Tracking & Management
SilverStar - a leading developer of wireless
asset management products - has created a solution tailored for refrigerated van
management. It provides essential fleet management functionality and delivers real-time
"electronic strip chart reports." This web-based refrigerated van tracking solution
is cost-effective and easy to use.
The Challenge:
Refrigerated vans carry valuable and perishable cargo. To protect the vehicle and
its high-value contents, effective refrigerated van management is critical. Fleet
managers must understand each vehicle's location and its compliance with temperature
control objectives. Unfortunately, current methods for refrigerated van tracking
are often expensive, inefficient, time-consuming and ultimately ineffective. As
a result, many organizations lose a significant portion of their fleet value due
to abuse, under-utilization, misplacement and theft. Managing a fleet of refrigerated
vans can be a daunting task - but SilverStar can help.
The Solution:
SilverStar refrigerated van tracking is a wireless solution for managing refrigerated
vans. It provides refrigerated van management functions, and includes temperature
sensors and temperature reporting. SilverStar generates real-time "electronic strip
charts" to report the vehicle's compliance with temperature control objectives,
and it can issue real-time Alert Notifications if any problems occur. The SilverStar
refrigerated van tracking solution is web-based and easy to use. In addition to
SilverStar, SilverStar also offers asset management for other industrial solutions
such as water chiller management, crane tracking and fleet vehicle management. The
total refrigerated van management solution consists of:
- An SilverStar monitoring unit installed on the vehicle. The refrigerated van tracking
unit includes a GPS system, a cellular radio, a GPS/Cell antenna, an integrated
backup battery, and a temperature sensor.
- An SilverStar -provided website to deliver Temperature Plots, Location Reports,
Status Reports, History Logs, and other management info.
- Real-time Alert Notifications issued as text messages sent to cell phones and/or
as email messages.
Refrigerated Van Management Web Services:
- All reports and alerts are accessible through a simple web interface. The web interface
provides real-time information that enables fleet managers to understand the location
of each vehicle, and to ensure ongoing compliance with its temperature control objectives.
- A History Log reports all refrigerated van tracking communications to and from each
vehicle.
- The web interface is powerful, intuitive, and easy to use.
Refrigerated Van Management Features & Benefits:
- Location & Status Reports keep Fleet Managers apprised
of the status of the fleet
- Automatic - Each remote refrigerated van tracking
unit automatically sends Location & Status Reports every ten minutes while the vehicle's
engine is on.
- On-Demand - Authorized users can collect real-time
updates at any time via any web browser or digital cell phone.
- Temperature Monitoring ensures compliance with Temperature
Control Objectives
Each monitoring unit features a temperature sensor. Temperature readings are collected
at ten-minute intervals. The temperature information, along with the vehicle's Location,
Speed, and Mileage, are sent wirelessly to the SilverStar server every ten minutes
while the vehicle's engine is on. The SilverStar refrigerated van management server
generates an "electronic strip chart" report summarizing the vehicle's compliance
with its temperature objectives.
- Alert Notifications provide real-time warnings for key
events
Any performance violation - including Temperature Violations, GeoFence Violations,
Low Battery, etc. - will trigger real-time Alert Notification messages that can
be directed to cell phones and/or email addresses. These real-time warnings enable
Fleet Managers to help protect the vehicle and its valuable cargo.
- Track Reports facilitate route analysis
Authorized users can create custom Refrigerated Van Tracking Reports to examine
each vehicle's path. The Track Reports can be used to confirm compliance with route
objectives; or for Customer Billing, Fleet Management, or other operational requirements.
- History Log information supports management reports
Each vehicle's location and status information is retained in the SilverStar database
for ninety days, enabling users to examine each vehicle's historical performance.
The historical information can be used to confirm the vehicle's compliance with
regulatory requirements; or for Customer Billing, Fleet Management, or other operational
applications.
