Static Equipment - Power Generators
The Challenge:
Providing reliable power is a key priority for many organizations, leading to the
increasing use of onsite generators. Generators are often rented, and are occasionally
moved between sites. To ensure optimal performance, each generator's location,
status, utilization and ongoing engine run-hours should be carefully monitored.
Unfortunately, current methods for tracking a generator's location and utilization
are often manual, inefficient, time-consuming, and error-prone. As a result, many
enterprises lose a significant portion of their generators value due to abuse,
misplacement, under-utilization, faulty maintenance, or even theft.Managing a fleet
of out-of-sight generators can be a daunting task - but SilverStar can help.
The Solution:
SilverStar generator tracking is a generator management solution that reports each
machine's location, status, and condition. It automatically displays each generator's
Engine Run-Hours and issues real-time Alert Notifications when Faults are detected.
The SilverStar generator management solution is web-based and easy to use.
The total solution consists of:
- An SilverStar monitoring unit installed on the generator.
- An SilverStar-provided website to deliver Location Reports, Status Reports, Engine
Run-Hour Reports, Alert Notifications, Maintenance Reminders, Service Logs, History
Logs, and more.
- Real-time Alert Notifications delivered as text (SMS) messages to cell phones, and/or
via e-mail.
- In addition to Genset Tracking Monitoring, SilverStar also offers asset management
for other industrial solutions such as container management, refrigerated trailer
management and pump management.
Web-Based Services and Alert Notifications:
- All generator tracking reports and alerts are accessible through a simple web interface.
The latest report from each generator is immediately displayed upon login.
- Alert Notifications can be sent to specific recipients according to the type of
violation. Alerts can be sent in the form of text messages to cell phones, and/or
as e-mail messages. Up to five user-configurable Faults can be reported. Typical
examples of Alert Notifications include: General Fault/Common Alarm; Low Fuel; Temperature;
Oil Pressure; Engine Over crank; Engine Over speed; Low Battery; Battery Disconnect.
- Authorized users can issue Remote Start and Remote Stop commands to any generator
at any time.
- The web interface is powerful and easy to use.
Features & Benefits:
- Engine Run-Hour Reports: SilverStar generator management automatically displays
each generator's Engine Run-Hours. Key benefits include:
- Reduce costs - schedule timely maintenance
services to prevent costly repairs and avoid breakdowns
- Save manpower - eliminate wasted time and
labor to collect hour-meter readings
- Increase utilization efficiency - monitor
utilization to ensure effective operation
- Ensure accuracy - eliminate errors by collecting
automated Engine Run-Hour Reports
- Engine ON/OFF Reports: SilverStar generator
tracking automatically reports each time the generator is turned ON and OFF, enabling
fleet managers to understand exactly when and where each generator was used.
- Location Reports and Mapping: Each update includes
detailed information about the generator's location, including its address and its
latitude and longitude co-ordinates. SilverStar also includes extensive mapping
capabilities featuring Street View, Aerial View, Hybrid View, and in some areas
a "Bird's Eye View."
- Real-Time Updates: Authorized users can collect
up-to-the minute updates from any machine, at any time.
- Alerts and Alarms: SilverStar generator management
provides real-time Alert Notifications for the following types of events:
- Faults - five user-configurable ports are available
to report upon key Faults. Typical examples include: General Fault / Common Alarm;
Low Fuel; Temperature; Oil Pressure; Engine Over crank; Engine Over speed.
- GeoFence Violation - users can define a custom
"virtual fence" around any generator. If a generator is moved beyond its boundary,
a GeoFence Alert can be sent to cell phones and/or by email. A GeoFence Violation
will cause SilverStar to track the generator's location and send Location Updates
every five minutes.
- Curfew Violation - users can specify time-of-day
usage limits for each generator. If a generator is turned on during a prohibited
time period, a real-time Curfew Alert will be issued.
- Low Battery - SilverStar generator tracking
solution will issue a Low Battery Alert if the battery level falls below its threshold.
- Battery Disconnect - SilverStar can issue a
Battery Disconnect Alert if the battery is removed
- Maintenance Reminder - SilverStar generator
management services can send "Maintenance Due" reminders as each machine approaches
its service interval. Service intervals are user-configurable, and the reminders
can be directed to specific recipients.
- Jobsite Utilization Reports: SilverStar can
automatically report each generator's utilization by Jobsite.
- Live Track: Authorized users can track any machine
at any time, collecting Location Updates every five minutes for a period of one
hour.
- Power save Mode: The generator tracking unit
will automatically enter its Power Save mode to reduce power consumption during
periods when the generator is not running.
Remote Start/Stop
SilverStar provides Remote Start/Stop capabilities, and Remote Test capabilities.
Key features include:
- Remote Start / Stop: users can remotely Start
the generator for a configurable time interval
- Remote Stop: users can issue a Remote Stop command
at any time, thereby providing a "Early Termination" or "Failsafe Stop" for any
Remote Test
- Automatic Reporting of Test Hours: Engine Test Hours are automatically reported
