Crane Management
SilverStar - a leading developer of remote asset
management solutions - has created a solution tailored for truck mounted crane tracking.
The Challenge:
Cranes are often dispersed over a wide geographic area. Fleet Managers need to track
crane utilization information in order to:
- schedule timely maintenance Services
- ensure effective Project Management
- support Billing and Invoicing operations
Unfortunately, present methods of collecting utilization information from these
geographically-dispersed vehicles are typically manual, time-consuming and often
error-prone. As a result, many organizations lose a significant portion of their
assets value due to wasted manpower, under-utilization, faulty maintenance, and
occasionally catastrophic failure.
SilverStar can help.
The Solution:
SilverStar crane tracking is a wireless solution to track crane activity. It tracks
the truck and reports its mileage and the engine run-hours for the crane. SilverStar
can send real-time Alert Notifications if any faults occur, or if the vehicle is
due for service. SilverStar crane tracking is web-based and easy to use. In addition
to SilverStar, SilverStar also offers asset management for other industrial solutions
such as container management, refrigerated trailer management and pump management.
The total crane tracking solution consists of:
- A monitoring unit installed inside or on the truck
- An SilverStar -provided website to track crane utilization information, deliver
location reports, engine run-hour updates, maintenance reminders, asset history
logs, and more
- Real-time Alert Notifications delivered as text message to cell phones, and/or via
email
Crane Tracking Web Service and Alert Notifications:
- All reports and alerts are accessible through a simple web interface. The latest
report from each truck is immediately displayed upon login.
- Alert Notifications are targeted to specific recipients according to the type of
violation. Alert Notifications can be sent in the form of text messages to cell
phones, and/or as email messages.
- A simple-to-use web interface allows users to easily control the system and manage
the fleet.
- A History Log is used to track crane activity and displays all communications to
and from each machine.
Crane Tracking Features & Benefits:
- Engine Run-Hour Reports: The SilverStar crane
tracking solution automatically reports each time the crane is powered ON or OFF.
The website displays the up-to-date Engine Run-Hour info for each crane. Key benefits
include:
- Ensure warranty compliance - Engine Run-Hour
info enables timely maintenance for each machine
- Save manpower - eliminate the requirement
to manually collect hour-meter readings
- Increase utilization efficiency - utilization
info can help Fleet Managers ensure efficient operation
- Ensure accuracy - automated reports provide
greater accuracy
- Tracking Reports: SilverStar crane tracking
automatically sends Tracking Updates at ten-minute intervals whenever the truck's
engine is ON. The Tracking Reports enable Fleet Managers to always know the location
and status of each truck. Each Tracking reports also specifies if the vehicle is
in motion, or if it is idling. Idle Time Summaries are automatically reported for
each trip.
- Maintenance Reports / Reminders: SilverStar
crane tracking automatically issues "Maintenance Due" reminders to advise when
each truck is due for Service. Reminders are issued for the crane based upon its
Engine Run-Hours; and for the truck based on its mileage.
- Jobsite Utilization Reports: SilverStar can
report each truck's utilization by Jobsite. Features include:
- Create Custom Jobsites - up to 99 custom Jobsites
can be specified.
- Jobsite Utilization Reports by Asset - users
can ascertain which trucks have been utilized at each Jobsite, and how many Engine
Run-Hours each crane accumulated at each Jobsite.
- Asset Utilization Reports by Jobsite - users
can identify at which Jobsite each truck has been utilized, as well as when it was
utilized at each Jobsite, and how many Engine Run-Hours it accumulated at each Jobsite.
- Real-Time Updates: Authorized users can collect
up-to-the minute updates from any truck, at any time.
- Alert Notifications: SilverStar crane tracking
can send real-time Alert Notifications as text messages and/or as email messages.
Alert Notifications are available for:
- Curfew violation - users can define a "curfew"
for each truck. If the truck is used during the prohibited "curfew" period, a Curfew
Violation Alert Notification will be issued.
- GeoFence violation - users can define a virtual
boundary - called a GeoFence - around any key site. A GeoFence Violation can be
reported each time the truck approaches or departs from the site.
- Speeding Violation - users can specify a Speed
Limit and be notified if it is exceeded.
- Low Battery notification - the monitoring
unit will monitor the truck's battery level, and will issue a Low Battery Alert
Notification if the battery weakens.
- Battery Tamper - the monitoring unit can send
a Battery Tamper Alert Notification if the battery is disconnected.
- Maintenance Due - users can specify different
maintenance intervals for each truck, and receive reminders when service is due.
- PowerSave Mode - when the truck's engine
is off, the monitoring unit will go into PowerSave mode to reduce its power consumption.
All alerts and regularly-scheduled reports will continue while the unit is in PowerSave
mode.
- Back-up Battery - a built-in backup battery
enables the monitoring unit to operate if the main battery is disconnected.
